Privacy Policy
Last updated August 24, 2026
We are a one-person tutoring practice, not an advertising business. We collect what we need to teach your child and take your payment, and nothing else. We do not sell your information or your child's information to anyone, ever.
What we collect
From you, when you request or book a session: your name, email address, phone number if you give it, and your billing details.
About your child: their first name, grade or age, what you would like help with, anything you choose to tell us about how they learn, and any allergies, medical needs, or accommodations you share so we can keep them safe.
From sessions: short progress notes about what your child worked on, so each session builds on the one before it.
Automatically: basic technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and pages visited, kept in server logs for security and troubleshooting.
We never collect payment card numbers. Card details go directly to Stripe. We only see the last four digits, the card brand, and whether the payment succeeded.
Why we collect it
- To schedule, confirm, and deliver tutoring sessions
- To take payment and keep records of what you bought and used
- To email you confirmations, reminders, receipts, and progress notes
- To keep your child safe during sessions
- To keep the tax and business records the law requires
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not build profiles of children.
Children's privacy
This website is written for parents and guardians. Children do not have accounts and we do not knowingly collect information directly from children. Everything we know about your child comes from you.
You can ask to see, correct, or delete what we hold about your child at any time by emailing [email protected]. We will do it, other than records we are legally required to keep.
Who we share it with
We share the minimum necessary with a small number of service providers who help us operate:
- Stripe — payment processing. Stripe receives your name, email, and card details directly.
- Our email and hosting infrastructure — operated for us by Forzur, which runs the mail server and the server this site sits on.
We also share information when you ask us to (for example, sending progress notes to your child's classroom teacher), or when the law requires it — including North Carolina's mandatory reporting obligations for suspected child abuse or neglect, described in the parent agreement.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your information or your child's information.
Cookies
We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to keep the booking form secure. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels.
How long we keep it
- Session and progress notes: for as long as your child is a student with us, and up to three years afterward in case you come back.
- Payment and invoice records: seven years, as tax rules require.
- Server logs: about 90 days.
Ask us to delete your family's records sooner and we will, apart from the financial records we have to keep.
How we protect it
The site is served over encrypted connections, passwords are stored hashed rather than in plain text, and access to family records is limited to Lana Millard and the technical staff who maintain the system. No system is perfect, but we take this seriously — these are children's records.
Your choices
- Ask for a copy of what we hold about your family
- Correct anything that is wrong
- Ask us to delete your records, subject to the retention rules above
- Withdraw permission for photos or video of your child at any time
- Unsubscribe from anything that is not a booking, payment, or safety message
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version appears here with a new date at the top. If a change materially affects how we handle your family's information, we will email you about it.
